The Video documentary "Toninhas: no limite da sobrevivência" (Franciscanas: on the edge of survival)" shows images of franciscanas (Pontoporia blainvillei), the research that has been conducted and the threats that directly affect the franciscanas and their habitat. The film is 61 minutes long and was made in various regions of the franciscana occurrence, between the Espírito Santo, in Brazil, and northern Patagonia, Argentina.

New study on the behaviour of the species in the Rio Negro Estuary, Argentinean Patagonia, the southermost area of its distribution.

The studies were conducted between 2002 and 2011 and obtained results related to the group size, dispersal, habitat use, and presence of calves and predators. The authors conclude that the franciscana remain in the area year-round and suggest the creation of a nature reserve in the area and long-term monitoring.
